You can spot a healthy grass from a mile away. It just looks visually appearing when you come across on. So why doesn’t yours look like that? To be frank, there are no tips or tricks to getting your lawn to look perfect. It’s pretty simple: the sun, water, and fertilizer. Here’s how to get started.
Setting Soil. When planting a new lawn in your new area, you want to make sure you remove any weeds and excess soil thoroughly (including its roots) that may cause a lump when layering your lawn.
Seeding. The quickest way to have the perfect lawn is rolling out a carpet of sod, however, this can also be expensive if you are covering a large area. An alternative way is hydroseeding, which has become popular.
Shave and cut. To get the best results when mowing the lawn, you should raise your mower to the highest notch. Many homeowners commonly make the mistake of cutting the grass as short as possible, this actually stresses the grass and prevent it growing properly. Taller grass promotes better root development, which is why you want to maintain this.
Water. How much water should the grass take in? A weeks’ worth of water, this will help soak the roots extend deeper into the soil, while frequent shallow watering tends to lead to thatch, and causes dry brown runners just above the soil. Watering deeply will keep bugs away from the dried, stressed out lawns.
Fertilization. Healthy grass needs food, you should aim to feed them twice a year, spring and fall for the bare minimum. Just like us, we take multivitamins, grass needs micronutrients such as sulfur, copper and iron and regular fertilizing.
Grass maintenance can be tedious but the results will clearly pay off. If you are looking for a professional landscaping contractor to take care of your lawn all year round or for seasonal purposes, please feel free to get in touch with us at 978-388-0935.
